The Policy Intern will provide research and administrative support to the staff of WILL. This will be a 3-to-4-month position with ability to extend based on performance. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with a concentration in Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Communications\/Journalism, or Statistics. This is a paid opportunity and requires a minimum 15 hour per week commitment, although greater availability would be ideal. This position will be located in our Downtown Milwaukee office with some virtual days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Provide research to support the policy team, preparation for meetings, events and publications.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Collect and process data for use in policy research reports.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Consult a wide variety of news services, media outlets and peer-reviewed journals and prepare memos and <\/span>spreadsheets to brief WILL staff.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Assist in issuing open records requests to governmental entities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Assist in writing op-eds and blog posts for newspapers, online periodicals and WILL website.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Basic graphic design tasks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Other duties as assigned.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Education and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Must be a rising junior or senior undergraduate, recent graduate or graduate student.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Demonstrated interest and understanding of public policy, particularly as it relates to the state of Wisconsin, <\/span>preferred.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Demonstrated interest and understanding of the current political climate preferred.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Must have demonstrated proficiency with entire Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Proficiency in Canva or other graphic design software is a strong plus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Excellent verbal and written communication skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ability to work in a team environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>How to Apply<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interested applicants should submit a resume, a cover letter, writing sample and two references (academic or employment related) to: <\/span><a href=\"mailto:Kyle@will-law.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kyle@will-law.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>About WILL<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wisconsin Institute for Law &amp; Liberty (WILL) is a non-profit, public policy legal center located in downtown Milwaukee.
