Boese is right<\/a>. And Thurston\u2019s position is stupid bordering on nutty. Why is it that so many Republicans reflexively want to include Democrats when Republicans win elections? Democrats feel no such compunction. Just ask those in Milwaukee, Madison, Chicago, etc. Republicans in those places are ignored and excluded.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Waukesha County District Attorney candidate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thurstonforda.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mike Thurston\u00a0<\/a>said during a June 19 debate that, if elected, he would invite Democrats to train prosecutors in the DA\u2019s office on election integrity matters, a plan his opponent Lesli Boese called \u201csilliness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thurston said he would also invite Republican experts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis wouldn\u2019t just be a Republican thing,\u201d Thurston, a deputy DA in the office, said. \u201cI\u2019d invite Democrats too. They could come in. They could train us.\u201d He didn\u2019t name the experts who would get his invitations.<\/p>\n<p>The idea of bringing Democrats in to train Waukesha prosecutors on election integrity generated a sharp rebuttal from his opponent in the race,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.boeseforda.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deputy DA Lesli Boese<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis county needs a conservative candidate to run this office \u2013 that\u2019s the bottom line. I am that candidate,\u201d said Boese, who also hammered Thurston<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsinrightnow.com\/mike-michael-thurston-waukesha-da-candidate\/\">\u00a0for five donations<\/a>\u00a0he made to Democratic DA John Chisholm, as well as other Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Thurston says he wants to, for election integrity, he wants to bring in Democrats to help. Is it because of all the experience that they have\u00a0<em>without<\/em>\u00a0election integrity? That\u2019s silliness,\u201d she added. \u201cWe don\u2019t need politicians to come in and tell us how to follow the rules. That\u2019s called the rule of law. You read the statute; you apply the statute to what\u2019s going on in the community. We don\u2019t need people to guide us.
