MADISON<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) \u2013 the combined state chamber and manufacturers\u2019 association \u2013 celebrates each October as Manufacturing Month and the first Friday of the month as Manufacturing Day.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Throughout October, WMC, its members and partners, and communities throughout the state will recognize the importance of manufacturing to Wisconsin\u2019s economy. Manufacturing is the state\u2019s top industry, contributing over $71\u00a0billion to the\u00a0economy. The state\u2019s over 9,000 manufacturers employ\u00a0one in six Wisconsin workers \u2013 the equivalent of nearly half a million jobs.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cWisconsin manufacturers are at the forefront of innovation,\u201d said WMC President & CEO Kurt Bauer. \u201cWe want to use this opportunity to showcase their contributions to our economy, but also the rewarding careers available in the industry.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Local manufacturers are encouraged to participate in\u00a0events<\/a><\/span>\u00a0such as student education collaborations, facility tours, hiring events, and more.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThese collaborations are important to show students and the community the types of things our manufacturers do,\u201d Bauer continued. \u201cThat\u2019s how we will begin to equip our future workforce and ensure the industry\u2019s future success.\u201d<\/div>\n

To celebrate the month, WMC plans to host a number of manufacturing-centric events throughout October, including its largest annual event,\u00a0Business Day<\/a><\/span>, and engage in a robust campaign on social media.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Additionally, WMC has again partnered with Johnson Financial Group to host the annual\u00a0Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>contest. The program is intended to highlight the state\u2019s vibrant and diverse manufacturing industry, available career opportunities, and of course the cool products made by Wisconsinites. 130 products were nominated this year. The field is continually narrowing during the Manufacturing Madness portion of the competition, and the winner will ultimately be crowned at WMC\u2019s\u00a0Business Day<\/a><\/span>\u00a0event on Oct. 17 in Madison.<\/div>\n
