The Village of Pewaukee is in hot water for continuing to impose its transportation tax even after the Wisconsin Court of Appeals struck it down as illegal.<\/p>\n

In 2022, WMC successfully sued the Village of Pewaukee, arguing the Village\u2019s transportation utility fee is an illegal tax. But the Village continued to collect the tax. Now WMC is asking the Court to require the Village to reimburse taxpayers the money they illegally collected.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that they continued to unlawfully take money away from taxpayers and disobey, and completely disregard, the Court of Appeals decision\u2026 we think it\u2019s grounds for contempt of court,\u201d said WMC\u2019s Scott Manley in an interview with WSAU\u2019s Meg Ellefson. \u201cThis is an illegal tax. Now, we\u2019re trying to hold Pewaukee accountable for continuing to impose it after the courts told them they can\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section><\/div>\n
