Critics of school choice have long claimed that private schools in Wisconsin\u2019s choice programs either do not serve students with disabilities or they actively discriminate against them, but the data shows otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s choice programs cannot deny admission based on disability status, while public schools in the state\u2019s open enrollment program are legally permitted to do so. Last year, over 2,000 students were denied access to public schools because of their disability status.
