{"id":15924,"date":"2025-03-28T09:00:55","date_gmt":"2025-03-28T10:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=15924"},"modified":"2025-03-28T10:57:04","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T10:57:04","slug":"wi-sees-uptick-in-births-due-to-abortion-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=15924","title":{"rendered":"WI Sees Uptick in Births Due to Abortion Ban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post originally appeared at <a href=\"https:\/\/wifamilycouncil.org\/radio\/wi-sees-uptick-in-births-due-to-abortion-ban\/\">https:\/\/wifamilycouncil.org\/radio\/wi-sees-uptick-in-births-due-to-abortion-ban\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A new study from the National Bureau of Economic Research found that enforcement of Wisconsin\u2019s pre-<em>Roe<\/em> abortion prohibition following the US Supreme Court\u2019s <em>Dobbs<\/em> decision, from early 2022 to fall of 2023, corresponded with a 1.3%\u00a0 increase in births statewide above what researchers expected, with even higher rates in the counties of Dane, Columbia, and Iowa. Researchers believe this is likely because these counties had the greatest driving distance to the nearest legal abortion facility.<\/p>\n<p>This study shows that abortion does indeed contribute to suppressed birth rates. Every state falls below the replacement birth rate of 2.1, and abortion is certainly contributing to that. Wisconsin has been below replacement birth rate since 1974.
