Last year, the state supreme court agreed with a lower court decision that stripped the unemployment tax exemption status of the Catholic Charities Bureau in Superior. The state Supreme Court\u2019s decision allowed the state an unnecessary voice in the definition of \u201creligious activity.\u201d The U.S. Supreme Court\u2019s decision will set a consequential precedent for the government\u2019s involvement in religion.<\/p>\n<p>Court observers say the US Supreme Court justices seemed to agree that our state high court got this wrong. We\u2019ll see. Allowing the government to interfere in religious activities violates our first amendment rights.
