Twitter files journalist Matt Taibbi filed a $10 million libel lawsuit against Democratic California Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove on Thursday after she accused him<\/a> of being a \u201cserial sexual harasser.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kamlager-Dove (pictured above) made the accusations Tuesday during a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee hearing and later amplified them on social media. The congresswoman\u2019s claims are \u201cdemonstrably false and were made with actual malice,\u201d Taibbi\u2019s lawsuit states.<\/p>\n

\"DCNF-logo\"\u201cThere is not much a person like me can say to a member of Congress hiding behind the protections of the Speech and Debate clause of the Constitution,\u201d Taibbi wrote in a Substack post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne can however respond to a member arrogant enough to repeat those claims on social media,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019ve now done so, in the form of a $10 million libel lawsuit filed today in a New Jersey federal court.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kamlager-Dove alleged during the hearing on the \u201cCensorship-Industrial Complex\u201d that Republicans were \u201celevating a serial sexual harasser as their star witness\u201d to distract \u201cfrom the dumpster fire this administration is pursuing.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his lawsuit, Taibbi (pictured here) states the Democratic lawmaker relied on \u201cunverified, decades-old satirical content that had been widely discredited by prior legal action and public corrections\u2014corrections of which she, as a public official with access to such information, was undoubtedly aware.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDefendant\u2019s decision to republish the statements on X and her website, outside her legislative duties, further demonstrates an intent to harm Plaintiff\u2019s reputation in his home state and beyond, rather than a good-faith engagement in legislative debate,\u201d the suit continues.<\/p>\n

\u201cRep. Kamlager-Dove,\u201d Taibbi wrote<\/a>, \u201cno woman has ever accused me of engaging in sexual harassment once, let alone serially. See you in court. Please do not evade service.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taibbi\u2019s attorneys and Rep. Kamlager-Dove did not immediately respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n
