Music Spotlight artist Annie Bosko<\/a> hails from California, not from San Francisco or Los Angeles, but from a farm near Thousand Oaks. While people often associate country music with Nashville and the South, real cowboys come from the western U.S., where they tend ranches and have cattle drives.<\/p>\n

Bosko explained, \u201cI know California has its issues. I almost used to hide that I was from California because it meant I couldn\u2019t be country. But when I lived in Nashville, I lived on 8th Avenue South which was way less country than when I go home to California.\u201d<\/p>\n

The idea for the song \u201cCalifornia Cowgirl<\/a>\u201d is serendipitous.\u00a0Recently, Bosko was doing a podcast with Dwight Yoakum, and he said, \u201cThe California cowgirl, Annie Bosko, is here today.\u201d<\/p>\n

She instantly thought, \u201cThat\u2019s a title for a song.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not too long later, songwriter Jason Seller came up to her and said, \u201cLance Miller gave me an idea for a song, \u2018California Cowgirl.’\u201d<\/p>\n

She replied, \u201cYou won\u2019t believe it, but Dwight Yoakam just called me that in a podcast.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bosko scheduled a co-write with several people, and they said, \u201cWe have an idea for you\u2014California Cowgirl.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
