(WEST ALLIS) — The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) ranks schools in the state’s private choice programs above traditional public schools, according to a new report from School Choice Wisconsin.

“DPI gives choice schools higher Report Card scores even though they receive substantially less revenue,” said Brenda White, chair, School Choice Wisconsin Board of Directors “School choice is Wisconsin’s most cost-effective K-12 investment.”

“DPI’s favorable ranking of school choice confirms that Wisconsin’s education policy should be grounded in giving parents options,” said Scott Manley, Executive Vice President of Government Relations at Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce. Manley co-chairs the Wisconsin Coalition for Education Freedom.

For 2023-24, the table below compares Report Card scores and per pupil revenue at public schools with scores and average revenue in three choice programs: (1) the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP); (2) the Racine Parental Choice Program (RPCP); and (3) the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP). In all three programs choice schools had higher DPI scores despite substantially less revenue per pupil.

<table style="height: 50px;width: 100%;border-collapse: collapse;border-color:
