{"id":1724,"date":"2023-03-31T10:00:36","date_gmt":"2023-03-31T10:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=1724"},"modified":"2023-03-31T10:04:10","modified_gmt":"2023-03-31T10:04:10","slug":"the-parents-bill-of-rights-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=1724","title":{"rendered":"The Parents\u2019 Bill of Rights Act"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post originally appeared at <a href=\"https:\/\/wifamilycouncil.org\/radio\/the-parents-bill-of-rights-act\/\">https:\/\/wifamilycouncil.org\/radio\/the-parents-bill-of-rights-act\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span>Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives\u00a0recently passed a\u00a0measure to enshrine parental rights in education\u00a0into federal law.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"eop\"><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/house-bill\/5\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span>H.R.5<\/span><\/span><\/a><span class=\"normaltextrun\">, also known as the Parents\u2019 Bill of Rights Act,\u00a0passed the House\u00a0last Friday\u00a0with two hundred thirteen votes of approval and two hundred eight opposing votes, mostly along party lines.\u00a0The legislation now goes to the Democrat-controlled Senate for another vote.<\/span><span class=\"eop\">\u00a0All six of Wisconsin\u2019s Republican representatives\u2014Steil, Van Orden, Fitzgerald, Grothman, Tiffany, and Gallagher\u2014voted in support of the bill.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"eop\"><span>Bills like this shouldn\u2019t be necessary, but with school districts across the country, including right here at home, usurping parents overtly and covertly, these types of bills are needed. Our state legislature passed a very good parental rights bill last session, but Governor Evers vetoed it.
