{"id":2480,"date":"2023-04-28T17:45:43","date_gmt":"2023-04-28T17:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=2480"},"modified":"2023-04-28T18:06:38","modified_gmt":"2023-04-28T18:06:38","slug":"wisconsin-ending-covid-emergency-health-officials-continue-warnings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=2480","title":{"rendered":"Wisconsin Ending COVID Emergency, Health Officials Continue Warnings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post originally appeared at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsinrightnow.com\/wisconsin-ending-covid-emergency-health-officials-continue-warnings\/\">https:\/\/www.wisconsinrightnow.com\/wisconsin-ending-covid-emergency-health-officials-continue-warnings\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/evers-covid-19-150x150-1.jpg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Wisconsin Ending COVID evers covid-19 Wisconsin\u2019s COVID Supplemental Spending\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Wisconsin Ending COVID\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s coronavirus emergency is ending, but the state\u2019s public health managers are continuing to urge people to get vaccinated and \u201ctake care of their health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s Department of Health Services on Wednesday said the state will be transitioning away from its emergency footing as the Biden Administration prepares to end the national coronavirus emergency on May 11.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe public health emergency was a trigger for federal and state funding to become available resources that aren\u2019t normal,\u201d DHS deputy secretary Deb Standridge said.<\/p>\n<p>By remaining under an emergency, Wisconsin accessed millions of dollars that basically covered the cost of coronavirus tests and coronavirus vaccines across the state.<\/p>\n<p>People in Wisconsin will now have to pay for those on their own or through their insurance.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Standridge said just because the coronavirus emergency is going away, that doesn\u2019t mean the coronavirus itself is going away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStay vaccinated. Stay up to date on vaccinations,\u201d Standridge explained. \u201cShould [people] begin to experience symptoms, get tested. And seek medical attention if [people] think they have COVID.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The end of the emergency also means changes for how Wisconsin tracks its coronavirus cases and deaths.<\/p>\n<p>DHS\u2019s COVID dashboard was already unavailable on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Standridge said DHS will continue to track cases, but they will be reported weekly \u201cif not longer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s coronavirus caseload peaked in 2020 and again in 2022 with nearly 2,000 cases per day.
