{"id":2876,"date":"2023-05-16T20:29:47","date_gmt":"2023-05-16T20:29:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=2876"},"modified":"2023-05-16T21:42:39","modified_gmt":"2023-05-16T21:42:39","slug":"wisconsin-apprenticeship-programs-growing-more-popular","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=2876","title":{"rendered":"Wisconsin Apprenticeship Programs Growing More Popular"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post originally appeared at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsinrightnow.com\/wisconsin-apprenticeship-programs-growing-more-popular\/\">https:\/\/www.wisconsinrightnow.com\/wisconsin-apprenticeship-programs-growing-more-popular\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1068\" height=\"713\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Collage-Maker-16-May-2023-03-28-PM-3836.jpg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Wisconsin Apprenticeship\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Wisconsin Apprenticeship\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Apprenticeship programs across Wisconsin are on the rise, as companies fiercely compete for talent in the post-pandemic era.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin Apprenticeship Deputy Director Liz Pusch pointed to an ongoing surge in business engagement with the state Department of Workforce Development (DWD), adding that more students and even college-educated workers now view the program as an avenue toward better job opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur average age of a registered apprentice is 28 years old,\u201d Pusch shared during a recent speech at the Madison Region\u2019s Economic Development and Diversity Summit hosted by the Madison Region Economic Partnership and the Urban League of Greater Madison, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisbusiness.com\/2023\/interest-in-apprenticeships-rising-amid-record-participation-tight-labor-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according<\/a><\/strong> to <a href=\"http:\/\/WisBusiness.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WisBusiness.com<\/a>. \u201cSo people are starting in their career route, and then they\u2019re figuring out, \u2018This is not what I want to do.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In April, DWD announced a new record-high 8,357 high school junior and senior students were taking part in the Youth Apprenticeship programs during the 2022-23 school year, and just weeks before then state officials highlighted that a record 15,900 apprentices took part in the Registered Apprenticeship program last year.
