Meg Ellefson interviewed WMC\u2019s Senior Director of Workforce, Education & Employment Policy Rachel Ver Velde about the findings of WMC Foundation\u2019s latest Education Reform poll.<\/p>\n

Employers are growing increasingly concerned about how children are being educated.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur members are telling us that the kids that are coming out of the K-12 system are not ready for the workforce. They lack hard-skills; they lack soft-skills,\u201d Ver Velde said. \u201cAnd they really want competition in the education marketplace in order to have students graduate and be ready to start on the job day one.\u201d<\/p>\n

WMC supports closing the funding gap between public schools and choice\/charter schools. The poll shows that 69% of Wisconsinites support narrowing that gap.<\/p>\n
