Ahead of final decisions on Wisconsin\u2019s biannual budget, WMC\u2019s Senior Vice President of Government Relations joined Matt Kittle on Vicki McKenna\u2019s radio show to discuss tax reform.<\/p>\n

Wisconsin has a $6.8 billion surplus, and WMC argues that those dollars should be given back to taxpayers. Cutting taxes will not only stimulate Wisconsin\u2019s economy, it will allow for population growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t afford to not cut taxes,\u201d Manley said.<\/p>\n

WMC Foundation\u2019s recently released report, Wisconsin\u2019s Demographic Dilemma, noted that Wisconsin should lower taxes to help solve the state\u2019s workforce shortage.<\/p>\n

\u201cStates with the highest population gain have an average income tax rate of 3.78%. We\u2019re at about twice that,\u201d Manley continued. \u201cThere is a correlation: if you have lower taxes, people come to your state to live, work, and raise a family. If you have higher taxes, they leave. Unfortunately, we\u2019re a higher tax state.\u201d<\/p>\n
