Landmark Ruling Demands Equal Treatment: Colleges and Universities Must Immediately Dismantle Affirmative Action and Similar Discriminatory Policies<\/b><\/h1>\n

The News:\u00a0<\/b>The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) released a statement praising the United States Supreme Court,\u00a0rejecting race-based affirmative action, and mandating colorblind policies at all taxpayer-funded colleges and universities.<\/p>\n

The Quotes:<\/b>\u00a0Rick Esenberg, WILL President and General Counsel, stated, \u201cIt has been a long struggle for us to recognize that each of us has the right to be treated as individuals and not members of a racial group. The idea that we can have \u201cmake-up\u201d discrimination for just a little while, without losing the moral force behind the civil rights movement, is insidious. Today the Supreme Court advanced this principle of equality, essentially eliminating racial discrimination and stereotyping in college admissions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dan Lennington, WILL Deputy Counsel, stated, \u201cThe word \u2018diversity\u2019 is no longer a license to discriminate. While this is an important victory, the fight is not over. We will closely monitor the reactions to this decision and, as always, stand ready to offer free legal representation to anyone victimized by racially discriminatory policies, programs, and laws.\u201d<\/p>\n
