U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, a Democrat from Wisconsin, was photographed last weekend with a California activist who has accused Israel of \u201cethnic cleansing\u201d and apartheid, according to a Jewish publication.<\/p>\n

Baldwin was photographed with Nadia Rahman, who touted the senator afterwards, according to Jewish Online.<\/a><\/p>\n

In May, Rahman tweeted<\/a>, \u201cToday marks 75 years since the Nakba (catastrophe) which resulted in the ethnic cleansing of 700,000 Palestinians during the creation of the state of Israel.\u201d She also accused Israel<\/a> of apartheid and \u201cwar crimes\u201d in other tweets. She also tweeted<\/a> that U.S.-funded military planes had killed civilians.<\/p>\n

Rahman who has frequently tweeted other anti-Israel comments, shared a photograph with Baldwin to her Twitter page. \u201cGearing up for 2024 elections: it was a pleasure to meet Senator Tammy Baldwin from Wisconsin today,\u201d it read. \u201cShe is a champion for women, the LGBTQ+ community, people w\/disabilities & rural Americans. However, another attendee indicated Rahman invited him.<\/p>\n

In one essay<\/a>, Rahman wrote of Israel \u201cLife in occupation is oppressive and the objective is to dominate, starve, humiliate and expel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baldwin\u2019s campaign told Jewish Online in a statement that Baldwin is a strong supporter of Israel. The campaign told the site that the event \u201cwas built by Electing Women\u2019s Bay Area chapter\u201d but did not respond to a question asking whether Baldwin was aware of Rahman\u2019s views.<\/p>\n
