MADISON<\/strong> \u2013 Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) \u2013 the combined state chamber and manufacturers\u2019 association \u2013 announced nine companies as recipients of the Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Award. For over three decades, WMC has presented this award to companies who have demonstrated environmental leadership through sustainability, stewardship and innovation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWisconsin businesses lead the charge in protecting the environment, showing commitment to both their communities and the future of our state,\u201d said WMC Director of Environmental & Energy Policy Craig Summerfield. \u201cThis year\u2019s recipients of the Business Friend of the Environment Awards truly go above and beyond what they are required to protect the environment, and WMC is proud to highlight their important efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Awards are presented in three categories, according to company size. Businesses must demonstrate they have made significant improvements in the areas of sustainability, environmental stewardship or environmental innovation. The goal of this awards program is to demonstrate to state policymakers, businesses and the public that sound environmental practices are good for Wisconsin and its business environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to this year\u2019s winners of the Business Friend of the Environment Awards,\u201d added Summerfield. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful for this opportunity to show that Wisconsin employers are committed to environmental protection, not because of burdensome regulation, but because it\u2019s good for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
