{"id":5865,"date":"2023-09-26T22:26:18","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T22:26:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=5865"},"modified":"2023-09-26T23:11:49","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T23:11:49","slug":"amazon-says-ftc-lawsuit-could-lead-to-higher-prices-slower-deliveries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=5865","title":{"rendered":"Amazon Says FTC Lawsuit Could Lead to Higher Prices, Slower Deliveries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post originally appeared at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsinrightnow.com\/amazon-lawsuit\/\">https:\/\/www.wisconsinrightnow.com\/amazon-lawsuit\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1068\" height=\"713\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Collage-Maker-26-Sep-2023-05-23-PM-3550.jpg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Amazon Lawsuit\" title=\"Amazon Lawsuit\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Online commerce giant Amazon said Tuesday that a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission could lead to higher prices and slower deliveries for customers.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Trade Commission and 17 state attorneys general filed a lawsuit Tuesday against <a href=\"http:\/\/Amazon.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon.com<\/a> Inc. alleging the company uses \u201canticompetitive and unfair strategies to illegally maintain its monopoly power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amazon said the FTC was misusing its authority and that the agency failed to understand the retail marketplace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s suit makes clear the FTC\u2019s focus has radically departed from its mission of protecting consumers and competition,\u201d\u00a0David Zapolsky, senior vice president of Global Public Policy and general counsel for Amazon, said in a statement.\u00a0\u201cThe practices the FTC is challenging have helped to spur competition and innovation across the retail industry, and have produced greater selection, lower prices, and faster delivery speeds for Amazon customers and greater opportunity for the many businesses that sell in Amazon\u2019s store.
