The rule, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.legis.wisconsin.gov\/code\/chr\/all\/cr_23_007\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CR 23-007<\/a><\/span>, would adopt updated versions of the commercial building, energy, and other codes. The proposed regulations would increase costs to new construction at a time when costs have already gone up in recent years due to inflation and interest rates making construction more expensive than it has been in more than a decade. Puzzlingly, the Department found that implementing the rule would have a \u201c$0\u201d effect on businesses.
