Left-wing Supreme Court candidate Janet Protasiewicz<\/a> pasted the word \u201cLIES\u201d next to a factual Milwaukee Journal Sentinel headline that was based on a 15-year-old rape victim\u2019s statement to police about what convicted felon Anton Veasley did to her.<\/p>\n

Is Protasiewicz accusing the teen rape victim of lying? That\u2019s the implication from her ad. If so, why did she, as court records say,<\/a> order an \u201centry of Judgment of Conviction\u201d against Veasley in the case?<\/p>\n

Protasiewicz has been under fire because she gave Veasley a \u201ctime-served\u201d disposition (he had served some jail time already), allowing him to walk free on probation with a stayed prison term at sentencing, according to court records<\/a>. She could have given him 20 years in a prison cell.Veasley has already re-offended and was convicted of a felony firearms charge.<\/p>\n

Protasiewicz is running an ad <\/a>that is ironically titled \u201cthe truth.\u201d Over a picture of conservative candidate Jennifer Dorow, Protasiewicz\u2019s ad says that \u201coutright lies\u201d and \u201cfalse attacks\u201d have started. The ad does not actually list any outright lies or false attacks.<\/p>\n

Then, alongside the word \u201cLIES,\u201d the Janet Protasiewicz ad runs a headline from a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article<\/a> that reads, \u201ckidnapped 15 year old, assaulted her in hotel room,\u201d next to a picture of felon rapist Anton Veasley.<\/p>\n

Protasiewicz\u2019s campaign is, thus, falsely saying through the juxtaposition of word and image that it is a lie to say the 15-year-old victim was kidnapped and assaulted by Veasley in a hotel room. But that\u2019s what the teen told authorities happened to her, according to the criminal complaint. And, as noted, he was convicted in Protasiewicz\u2019s court.<\/p>\n

Does Protasiewicz believe the teen was not really raped by Veasley? Why, then, did she uphold his conviction for sexual assault when Veasley appeared in her courtroom?<\/p>\n

According to Wisconsin court records<\/a>, Veasley was convicted of the following charges in Protasiewicz\u2019s court:<\/p>\n
