Rep. Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) indicated that he believes girls just need to \u201cwork harder\u201d if they don\u2019t like losing to biological boys on the athletic field.<\/p>\n

Considine also said parents<\/a> who are concerned that their girls aren\u2019t able to compete against biological boys in sports are \u201cselfish.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dave Considine made the comments on October 12, 2023, as Republicans in the Wisconsin state Assembly passed a bill to ensure a level playing field for girls and young women by requiring that people compete on teams that match their biological gender at birth. Republicans also passed a bill banning castration, sterilization, and irreversible hormone treatments of transgender minors. Democratic Gov. Tony Evers has pledged to veto both.<\/p>\n

A Democrat, Dave Considine is<\/a> a former goat farmer and special education teacher.<\/p>\n

The reaction on social media was brutal. \u201cMe to Wisconsin State Rep. Dave Considine: \u201cPlease go apologize to the trees. You\u2019re wasting the oxygen they\u2019re producing,\u201d wrote one person on X.<\/p>\n
