U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin wrote a letter supporting an Islamic group that now blames Israel <\/a>for the Hamas attacks.<\/p>\n

Baldwin has also accepted<\/a> campaign donations from leaders affiliated with the same group.<\/p>\n

The Council on American-Islamic Relations or CAIR recently demanded that the U.S. government examine \u201cthe root causes of violence, terminating Israel\u2019s occupation of Palestinian territories, and ending the Israeli government\u2019s apartheid policies\u201d after Hamas terrorists massacred Israeli families, beheaded babies, murdered concert attendees and took many children and elderly hostage.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Department of Justice wrote<\/a> in 2013 that evidence in a trial \u201clinked CAIR leaders to Hamas, a specially designated terrorist organization, and CAIR was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the case.\u201d In a December 2007 federal court filing, \u201cprosecutors described CAIR as \u201chaving conspired with other affiliates of the Muslim Brotherhood to support terrorists,\u201d according to the Investigation Project on Terrorism, which published a lengthy report on CAIR\u2019s ties <\/a>to terrorists and Hamas.<\/p>\n

These controversies were well-known at the time Baldwin wrote her letter.<\/p>\n

In her letter to CAIR <\/a>in 2019, Baldwin wrote, \u201cI appreciate all that you do in defense of justice and civil liberties throughout our state and nation. You deserve to be proud of your work to promote mutual understanding by countering prejudice and combating Islamophobia.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cIt is critical that you continue the fight for civil discourse and civic engagement. \u2026congratulations on more than two decades of passionate advocacy.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Washington Free Beacon<\/a>, Baldwin was one of dozens of Congressional Democrats who wrote letters supporting CAIR in 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongressional Democrats\u2019 widespread support for CAIR reflects the left\u2019s willingness for years to align with anti-Israel and far-left groups, which are now excusing and even praising Hamas\u2019s terrorism,\u201d the site reported.<\/p>\n

According to the Washington Free Beacon:<\/p>\n

\u201cCAIR has a long history of anti-Semitism. Zahra Billoo, the executive director of the group\u2019s San Francisco chapter, in 2021 described Jewish groups and synagogues as \u2018enemies\u2019 that are \u2018working to harm you.\u2019 In 2014, Billoo said, \u2018Blaming Hamas for firing rockets at Apartheid Israel is like blaming a woman for punching her rapist.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The Beacon added: \u201cCAIR has also been linked to Hamas itself. In a 2007 federal trial, evidence showed that a founding member of the group\u2019s Dallas chapter provided support to the terrorist group.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Investigative Project on Terrorism<\/a> obtained the letters and wrote, \u201cCAIR has a second, perhaps more paramount objective that it never directly acknowledges: To oppose Israel and promote Palestinian nationalism.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to that project, \u201cCAIR also routinely teams with groups devoted to opposing Israel\u2019s very existence. It should not be surprising to those familiar with CAIR\u2019s origin story. It was created by a Muslim Brotherhood-run Hamas support network in the United States. Witnesses told the FBI that supporting Hamas was its mission from the start.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
