Simply put, there are high-quality charter and voucher schools statewide along with many district schools doing great work for kids.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Here are IRG\u2019s Top School Takeaways:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Overall Scores<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5658 \" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Picture1.png\" alt width=\"686\" height=\"364\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>1 choice school is on this list despite unfavorable demographics!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Remember, students who access private schools through vouchers must be low-income or working-class. As a result, Wisconsin voucher schools are 70% low-income compared to 41% in traditional public schools statewide. While students of any income level can access charter schools, they tend to be low-income, so Wisconsin charter schools are 70% low-income as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5660 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Picture2.png\" alt width=\"614\" height=\"328\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Of 1,665 schools that scored in 2019 and 2023, just 426 recovered in both reading and math! That means 74% scored at or below 2019 in either subject.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>2 choice schools managed to rank in the top 10 despite only 16% of schools in Wisconsin being choice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Working-Class Scores<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5662 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Picture3.png\" alt width=\"624\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>While low-income students suffered especially horribly during the pandemic, it\u2019s also critical to look at more working-class schools. 3 are voucher or charter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5665 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Picture4.png\" alt width=\"624\" height=\"331\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Among working-class schools that recovered the most, 4 are choice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>High-Poverty Scores<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5667 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Picture5.png\" alt width=\"624\" height=\"336\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>High-poverty schools are where choice really stands out. Among the highest-proficiency schools, 6 are voucher or charter!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5669 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Picture6.png\" alt width=\"624\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>5 out of the 10 high-poverty schools that recovered the most after the pandemic are choice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Predominantly Non-White Scores<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5671 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Picture7.png\" alt width=\"624\" height=\"335\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Surprisingly, race aligned more with how poorly students recovered than income. Among predominantly non-White schools, 7 are voucher or charter!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5674 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Picture8.png\" alt width=\"624\" height=\"332\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Growth was no different. 7 were choice!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5673 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Picture9.png\" alt width=\"624\" height=\"334\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Of the top-scoring schools serving mostly Hispanic students, 6 are voucher or charter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5672 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Picture10.png\" alt width=\"624\" height=\"331\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Wisconsin public schools have the worst record in the nation of educating Black students, sadly. Thus, it is not a surprise that 8 of the top 10 performers among predominantly Black schools are choice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What It Means<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The facts are the facts: some of the state\u2019s best schools are voucher or charter schools.
