{"id":6893,"date":"2023-10-28T15:29:11","date_gmt":"2023-10-28T15:29:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=6893"},"modified":"2023-11-07T17:17:08","modified_gmt":"2023-11-07T17:17:08","slug":"wmc-supports-expanding-overweight-load-dot-permit-regulations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=6893","title":{"rendered":"WMC Supports Expanding Overweight Load DOT Permit Regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post originally appeared at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wmc.org\/issues\/wmc-supports-expanding-overweight-load-dot-permit-regulations\/\">https:\/\/www.wmc.org\/issues\/wmc-supports-expanding-overweight-load-dot-permit-regulations\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>WMC\u2019s Director of Tax, Transportation and Legal Affairs Evan Umpir submitted testimony in support of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.legis.wisconsin.gov\/2023\/proposals\/sb363\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SB 363<\/a><\/span>, relating to the permits for the overweight transport of pig iron.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the Department of Transportation allowed pig iron to be included in issuance of overweight permits under metallic and nonmetallic scrap. SB 363 ensures that pig iron can once again be transported using this permit by clarifying the definition of recyclable scrap in DOT\u2019s administrative code. This protection is important for Wisconsin\u2019s 97 foundries and its 11,200 employees.
