The maps included non-contiguous districts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause the current state legislative districts contain separate, detached territory and therefore violate the constitution\u2019s contiguity requirements, we enjoin the Wisconsin Elections Commission from using the current legislative maps in future elections,\u201d wrote Justice Jill Karofsky.<\/p>\n<p>The task of drawing new maps falls to the Republican-controlled legislature, though their proposals must either secure the approval of Democratic Gov. Tony Evers or clear his veto.
