{"id":8367,"date":"2024-01-17T15:13:20","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T16:13:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=8367"},"modified":"2024-01-17T16:59:15","modified_gmt":"2024-01-17T16:59:15","slug":"democratic-law-firm-files-challenge-against-wisconsin-congressional-maps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/?p=8367","title":{"rendered":"Democratic Law Firm Files Challenge Against Wisconsin Congressional Maps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post originally appeared at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisconsinrightnow.com\/wisconsin-congressional-maps\/\">https:\/\/www.wisconsinrightnow.com\/wisconsin-congressional-maps\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1068\" height=\"713\" src=\"https:\/\/wifamily.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/MixCollage-17-Jan-2024-10-04-AM-2504.jpg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Wisconsin Congressional Maps\" title=\"Wisconsin Congressional Maps\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(The Center Square) \u2013 The Wisconsin Supreme Court is now being asked to overturn the state\u2019s other political maps after asking for new legislative maps.<\/p>\n<p>The Elias Law Firm, headed by lawyer Mark Elias, asked the state\u2019s high court to redraw Wisconsin\u2019s congressional maps.<\/p>\n<p>Elias has ties to the Hillary Clinton campaign network and has filed several election-related lawsuits across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWisconsin\u2019s current congressional map was drawn according to a &#8216;least change&#8217; principle that perpetuated and exacerbated the partisan unfairness that has robbed Wisconsin voters of fair congressional districts for over a decade,\u201d Elias Law Group partner Abha Khanna said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cleast change\u201d principle kept Wisconsin\u2019s maps largely unchanged in 2021, and once again gave Republicans in the state a majority.<\/p>\n<p>Six of Wisconsin\u2019s eight members of Congress are Republican.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman Brian Schimming said the lawsuit isn\u2019t about \u201cleast change.\u201d Instead, he said it\u2019s about political power.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The newly bought and paid for liberal majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court faces yet another test of the public&#8217;s trust: do the right thing by leaving the current, constitutional maps in place or abandon sound judgment by catering to their left-wing out-of-state donors,&#8221; Schmmining said.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s new liberal-majority Supreme Court discarded the state\u2019s legislative maps just before Christmas.
