The case is brought by Marc Elias, a notorious left-wing attorney who pursues political objectives through legal action. WILL has also filed a joint request with the Wisconsin Legislature calling on Justice Protasiewicz to recuse herself from any ruling that revisits Johnson v. WEC.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong>The Quote:<\/strong> Lucas Vebber WILL Deputy Counsel, stated, \u201cWisconsin\u2019s current congressional map was proposed by Governor Evers and adopted by the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 2022.\u00a0Any attempt to revisit this ruling and once again alter Wisconsin\u2019s Congressional districts, is both procedurally improper and legally wrong.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong>Petitioner\u2019s Motion is Meritless:<\/strong> The current congressional maps\u2014proposed by Governor Evers and adopted by the Court in 2022\u2014are constitutional and comply with all applicable state and federal laws. While the Supreme Court recently found that the state legislative district maps from 2022 were unconstitutional because they were not literally contiguous, that is not so for the Congressional maps. The motion amounts to little more than an attempt for a \u201cre do\u201d of this case from years ago.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong>Calling for Justice Protasiewicz\u2019s Recusal:<\/strong> Wisconsin state law also \u201ccreates a mandatory duty for judges to disqualify themselves in certain circumstances.\u201d According to Wisconsin law, \u201c[a]ny judge\u201d\u2014including any \u201csupreme court justice[]\u201d\u2014\u201cshall dis-qualify\u201d herself from any case where \u201cshe cannot, or it appears . . . she cannot, act in an impartial manner\u201d or she \u201chas a significant . . . per-sonal interest in the outcome of the matter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The Democratic Party of Wisconsin contributed nearly $10 million to Justice Janet Protasiewicz\u2019s campaign. During her campaign, Justice Protasiewicz declared Wisconsin\u2019s districts \u201crigged\u201d in favor of Republicans. As to the congressional maps, she specifically said \u201cwe know some-thing\u2019s wrong.\u201d Janet specifically reacted to the Johnson v.
