Job Summary

WILL is seeking a Communications Intern for the Summer of 2024 with the option to start sooner. The Communications Intern will provide digital marketing and administrative support to the department and entire WILL staff.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with a concentration in Communications/ Journalism, Marketing, Business, Economics, or Political Science.

The internship will be a 3-to-4-month position with the ability to extend based on performance. This is a paid opportunity and requires a 20-25 hours per week commitment. This position will be in our Downtown Milwaukee office.

Responsibilities

  • Craft content (reels, posts, etc.) for social media and draft press releases.
  • Assist in metrics tracking, media monitoring, and website maintenance. 
  • Basic graphic design and video editing tasks as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Education and Experience

  • Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate (or age equivalent), a recent college graduate, or a graduate student. 
  • Demonstrated interest and understanding of communications, media, and public policy, particularly as it relates to the state of Wisconsin. Knowledge of the current political climate is preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency with the entire Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • An ideal candidate has at least some proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and website content management systems such as WordPress.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and commitment to WILL’s mission.
