MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) – the combined state chamber and manufacturers’ association – opened nominations for its annual Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Awards Program on Earth Day, celebrated on April 22 each year. The program, sponsored by WM, helps demonstrate to state policymakers, businesses and the public that sound environmental practices are good for Wisconsin and its business environment.

“So many Wisconsin companies go above and beyond industry standards to champion our environment,” said WMC Senior Director of Environmental & Energy Policy Craig Summerfield. “It’s an honor to highlight their efforts with this awards program.”

Private companies that demonstrate sound environmental leadership are encouraged to apply. Eligible applicants must be headquartered in or have significant operations in Wisconsin. Awards are given based on company size in three categories: sustainability, use of innovative technology, and environmental stewardship.

“At WM we’re focused on reinventing what’s possible for communities, companies, and society to be more sustainable,” said Frank Fello, Area Vice President for WM of the Upper Midwest. “Together, we can work toward a more sustainable future for Wisconsin which is why we are proud to sponsor the Business Friend of the Environment Awards – showcasing the efforts of companies to protect the environment in our great state.”

The Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment award winners will be selected by an independent panel of judges who represent the business community and environmental organizations. Applications are due on June 10, 2024.
