WMC’s latest Wisconsin Employer Survey found that high health care costs in the state are detrimental to Wisconsin businesses.
“Wisconsin has the fifth highest hospital costs in the entire country, and that has really hurt employers by putting them at a competitive disadvantage,” said WMC’s Associate Vice President of Government Relations & Senior Political Advisor Rachel Ver Velde. “The number one thing our employers say government can do to help their business is to make health care more affordable.”
In the survey, employers noted that high health care costs mean higher costs for customers, lower compensation for employees and less capital investment.
WMC is advocating for legislation that supports hospital price transparency and a workers compensation medical fee schedule to help bring costs down.
