November is federally recognized as National Adoption Month. Throughout the month, courts will finalize adoption proceedings for scores of children, and organizations will help raise awareness for children in the foster care system. During this year’s National Adoption Month, we encourage churches and communities to highlight adoption and we urge married, male-female couples to ask the Lord whether adoption is part of their future.

As someone who was adopted at just five months of age, I am especially interested in this month and observance. Adoption is truly a gift of God’s grace and a perfect example of adults putting the needs and rights of children before their own. This month gives us an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of adoption and express gratitude for the mothers who choose adoption over abortion.
