About the Position:
WILL is seeking a Policy Intern for Summer of 2025. The Policy Intern will provide research and administrative support to the staff of WILL. This will be a 3-to-4-month position with the ability to extend based on performance. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with a concentration in Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Communications/Journalism, or Statistics. This is a paid opportunity and requires a minimum 15 hour per week commitment, although greater availability would be ideal. This position will be located in our Downtown Milwaukee office with some virtual days.
Responsibilities:
- Provide research to support the policy team, preparation for meetings, events and publications.
- Collect and process data for use in policy research reports.
- Consult a wide variety of news services, media outlets and peerreviewed journals and prepare memos and spreadsheets to brief WILL staff.
- Assist in issuing open records requests to governmental entities.
- Assist in writing op-eds and blog posts for newspapers, online periodicals and WILL website.
- Basic graphic design tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be a rising junior or senior undergraduate, recent graduate or graduate student.
- Demonstrated interest and understanding of public policy, particularly as it relates to the state of Wisconsin, preferred.
- Demonstrated interest and understanding of the current political climate preferred.
- Must have demonstrated proficiency with entire Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in Canva or other graphic design software is a strong plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
