The Institute for Family Studies’ recent report found that children with married parents have higher grades than children with single parents or unmarried cohabitating parents. The data shows that from 1996 to 2019, children in families with married parents were around 10% more likely to get A’s than children in families with unmarried parents. These findings once again show that family structure impacts a child’s development and academic performance.

God’s plan for the family is one man and one woman, united in marriage, who typically then have children, biological or adopted. Children suffer when divorce happens, or when they are involved with a cohabiting rather than marriage situation. We must contend for policies and a culture that supports the family. Doing so will strengthen our communities, state, and nation.
