On Monday, the US Supreme Court agreed to hear an important case on First Amendment rights. The case was filed in 2023 when First Choice Women’s Resource Center, a pro-life center in New Jersey, sued the state Attorney General for forcing the organization to present documents proving they had not violated the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act. First Choice claims the request was a targeted response to their vocal support of the abortion reversal pill. In 2024 First Choice filed their case with the Supreme Court.
Public officials do not have the right to target individuals or groups for speech they don’t like or that is not popular. The US Supreme Court needs to continue to affirm our First Amendment rights as they have in important cases from Wisconsin and other states across the country.
