Wisconsin US Representative Scott Fitzgerald and Wyoming US Senator Cynthia Lummis recently introduced the STUDENT Act to hold the National Education Association accountable for policies inconsistent with their federally granted charter. Fitzgerald argues, quote, “The NEA long ago transformed from an educational association into a political machine, pushing a progressive agenda that puts activists ahead of students’ needs.” End quote. The STUDENT Act will end both DEI programs and critical race theory, forcing the NEA to focus on real education.
Organizations that receive federal benefits, especially in education, should never be weaponized to serve a favored ideological agenda. For too long national institutions have been hijacked by woke DEI initiatives and critical race theory. Thankfully, this administration and members of Congress, including one from our state, are working to end these programs.
