West Allis — School Choice Wisconsin announced today that it has added Ben Voelkel of Jericho Communications to its team to manage communications for the organization throughout the critical state budget process. Voelkel has more than a decade of experience developing and executing communications programs for state and national elected officials and organizations.
“School Choice Wisconsin is a leader in the education freedom movement in Wisconsin. We are actively engaging our schools and families in discussions and school tours with our elected officials. Their voices need to be heard in the development of this biennial budget,” School Choice Wisconsin president Nicholas Kelly said. “We look forward to working with Ben and Jericho Communications to amplify what our research and private choice schools are telling us: Choice schools can’t survive and thrive while receiving 60 percent of the per pupil funding that public schools receive.”
Established in 2004, School Choice Wisconsin is the lead organization working to advance school choice opportunities in Wisconsin. Over the last two decades, School Choice Wisconsin has helped secure reforms to the state’s educational landscape. Nearly half of students in Milwaukee and one in five students statewide participate in Wisconsin’s private school choice programs, which have a track record of delivering higher performance at a lower cost than government-run schools.
