The rest are uncertain. In 2017, 83% of churchgoers said tithing was a biblical teaching that still applies. Lifewise Research Director Scott McConnell says this decline seems to be more a “lack of teaching…than a rejection of such teaching.”
A lack of teaching…that’s interesting. That teaching really begins at home. Parents should be their children’s very best teachers and examples about financial stewardship, which for Christians should include tithing. Something as simple as giving children an allowance and talking to them about giving ten percent of that money back to God is powerful.
