What’s the biggest issue you’re hearing about from your constituents?
I would say the most frequent issue I hear about on a regular basis is the need for streamlining and shrinking government. Whether it’s delays in receiving a professional license, too high of a tax burden, or inefficiencies in the health care system, the common thread is that government has become too involved.
If you were given the opportunity to enact one reform, what would it be?
If I could pick one, it would be the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Modernization Act. Wisconsin is in the minority of states that has not afforded APRNs the ability to practice within their scope independently. During the pandemic, Governor Evers granted those nurses more independence, but that all ended with the emergency order. After Evers vetoed the bill last session, I am hopeful we can get it over the finish line this time.
What’s something people don’t know about you?
I love hiking, enjoying the outdoors, and am a huge supporter of being a good steward of your community. Once a year, I take my kids out with me to clean up the garbage around our neighborhood, which I’m proud has turned into a lifelong habit of theirs no matter where they go!
