The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) is seeking to hire a paralegal to work as part of our award-winning litigation team at our Milwaukee office.
The Ideal Candidate: A freedom fighter with a passion for the law and high-profile litigation. Willing to work alongside our team of public interest litigators to take on anyone who stands in the way of liberty. This role is an integral part of our team: engaging with clients, talking to courts and opposing counsel, maintaining calendars and document files, proofreading and editing briefs and other legal documents, and more. Our team works together to take on the biggest fight, and the ideal candidate will be with us every step of the way.

The Job: The paralegal position provides legal and administrative support to our outstanding team of attorneys at every stage of litigation. The position will be located in our downtown Milwaukee office with the potential to work remotely as needed. Salary is competitive with an attractive benefits package, including health, disability/life, dental, HSA and 401(k) match.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparing, proofing, filing and service of pleadings and other legal documents in state, federal trial and appellate courts
- Perform substantive factual and legal research
- Cite check briefs using Westlaw
- Organize and manage case files from initiation to completion
- Manage litigation calendar and tracking of deadlines for the firm
- Maintain conflict of interest database
- Communicate with other parties and courts on behalf of attorneys
- Other duties as may be assigned
Job Requirements:
- Training and/or experience in litigation support in state and federal venues
- Proficiency in legal research (Westlaw)
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe
- Commitment to WILL’s mission
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Top notch organization skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects under high pressure
- A self-starter willing to engage in the highest profile legal battles
