Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt issued a proclamation making November Family Month. The proclamation says, quote, “The family is the foundational institution of society, ordained by God, and is the cornerstone of a healthy and thriving society,” end quote, and defines Family Month as “an effort to encourage families to embrace quality time and regular family meals, events, and activities.” Some state park fees are waived for families several days this month, and some restaurants are offering reduced prices for families and free meals for kids.

Governor Stitt clearly understands that strong families are in the best interest of the entire state. Every governor in the country ought to follow his lead, including our governor. Promoting and encouraging families to be intentional about strengthening bonds and building lifetime memories pays big dividends for individual families, churches, communities, and the state.
