Recently introduced legislation would decouple parental choice programs and independent charters from the school funding formula, reducing the complexity of school funding and providing tax relief to Wisconsin families.
Senior Director of Workforce, Education and Employment Policy Rachel Ver Velde submitted testimony in support of the bills, stating the bills would create a less complicated and more student-focused educational system. It would fund state programs with state dollars and local public schools with local tax dollars and state aid. Additionally, the policy change would provide significant property tax savings throughout the state.
