This week is Money Smart Wisconsin, a financial literacy awareness and education campaign, part of National Financial Literacy Awareness Month. State and federal agencies and private-sector groups are working together to raise awareness about the importance of financial literacy. Governor Evers, who is championing the program, said, quote, “Financial education empowers folks by equipping them with the knowledge to make informed financial choices and achieve their personal goals and aspirations.”
Parents should be the first and best teachers of financial principles and good stewardship, which should definitely include some form of tithing, along with understanding saving, investing, debt, helping others, and basic money management. This week is a great time for parents to talk about these things and remember that their example is their most powerful “talk.”
