Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction could face a loss of over $800 million in federal funding after refusing to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI, programs in schools. Although these programs have been the catalyst for promoting harmful gender ideology and racism, DPI superintendent Jill Underly opposes the federal mandate, arguing that removing DEI programs will inhibit students from receiving, quote, “the best education possible.”
When schools promote DEI programs, they create a dangerous pathway for educators to teach harmful ideology without the consent of parents. Removing these programs is a step towards a better education for all students in our state. Fortunately, we also have a number of educational options for parents to consider, including vouchers, open enrollment, and home schooling.
