Eighty-five Republican congress-members, including Wisconsin Congressman Bryan Steil, signed on as co-sponsors for a bill known as the Educational Choice for Children Act of 2025. The bill would expand school choice nationally by amending the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. Essentially, the amendment would allow a tax credit of up to $5,000 for donations given to nonprofits providing education scholarships to qualified K-12 students.
It’s encouraging to see Congress working toward expanding school choice. Parents, not the state, should have the power to choose the best educational option for their child. As Wisconsin and other states, along with the federal government, continue to make strides in this movement, our country moves closer to true educational freedom.
