At about 8pm last night, my phone started buzzing and beeping more than usual. One of the messages was, “AMS is reopening March 5th!”

AT&T service van outside of Affiliated Medical Services abortion center.

This last Thursday, I got a call from a great pro-lifer, Mr. Pickles.  He was on Milwaukee’s East Side and noticed they had taken down all the realtor signs from the front window at Affiliated Medical Services (1428 N Farwell Ave), the abortion center that closed in 2022 following Dobbs.  He told me that someone had also drawn the blinds and that, “the Asian lady was there.”  I asked, “THE Asian lady?  The one who has worked there for over fourteen years?  THAT Asian lady?”  He said, “yeah, I think so.”  I said I’ll be there in twenty minutes.

Mr. Pickles and I sat in his truck for a time, waiting for something to happen.  Then an AT&T van showed up, two service technicians got out of the van and rang their doorbell.  They were inside for no longer than twenty minutes.  I tried to call their old phone number but got the age-old recording with the screeching computer noise that this number is disconnected.  Their website was not updated at that time and still had the permanently closed message up on the front page.

A lot has changed in five days. Their website is now up and running, and a date for their re-opening has been confirmed: Tuesday March 5, 2024.

Affiliated Medical Services abortion center (428 N Farwell Ave, Milwaukee) is set to re-open on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

When the US Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision was handed down, overturning Roe v. Wade, my first thought was, “we are in for a fight – the battle has just now begun.”  From a logistical standpoint, we have been focusing our sidewalk counseling efforts at Planned Parenthood, located at 435 S Water Street, in Milwaukee.  This will change things. Now, we will be fighting the war from two fronts here in Milwaukee, as well as local efforts in Madison and Sheboygan, La Crosse, Green Bay, Rhinelander, Waukesha, Appleton, and beyond.  I know the pro-lifers in Wisconsin will rise up to the challenge. What else can we do?

We simply cannot sit idly by as we watch “the train cars on their way the Auschwitz and Treblinka go by.”  We cannot “Sing a Little Louder” in church to drown out the cries of those being led to the slaughter.

The only way to get abortion out of Wisconsin is to make it completely illegal. That’s the goal. Please help us.  If you’ve been doing other things – now is the moment to reprioritize your precious time for the babies of Wisconsin. Watch your emails and follow us on social media @ProLifeWI for updates.
